TAS @ 'One Planet' Trevarno

Tea Appreciation Society will be hanging loose with the leaf this weekend - 13th and 14th June at a new Cornish summer festival.

‘One Planet’, a fun new ‘mini-fest’ which is a collaboration between the Trevarno Estate and Gardens and CoaST (the Cornwall Sustainable Tourism Project).

‘One Planet’ will be the ultimate ‘discovery day out’ for people of all ages and interests, featuring a host of scintillating activities and entertainment and backed with an eco-message that will show people how to have a great time whilst helping protect the wonderful world around us.

Festival-goers are invited to bring their picnic rugs and deck chairs to Trevarno and set themselves up for a chilled day of free-rolling activities including a storytelling yurt, poetry-reading, food foraging workshops, a ‘Bear Bottoms Trail’ by Cornish Real Nappies Project and willow weaving.

‘Sustainable Style’ will see an eco-fashion and ‘swishing’ (clothes swapping) area and one of the highlights of the day will be a solar-powered catwalk featuring funky recycled fashion.

A Hyde Park inspired ‘soapbox speakers corner’ will be a continuous opportunity for people to take their stand and talk about issues of their choice.

Meanwhile leading eco-business leaders from the South West will also be giving relaxed chats about how their commitment to sustainable business has been the key to their success.

There will also be a programme of children’s entertainment, a large variety of stalls will be selling organic food and locally-sourced products, and there will be demonstrations of sustainable living methods.

A programme of ‘Sustainable Sounds’ from South-West based music acts will also be announced in the coming weeks and an open-to-all ‘Junk Jam’ will also take place on each of the afternoons.

The ‘One Planet’ event is not ticketed and only normal ticket prices will apply (of which a part will go to CoaST for new projects). The event will run from 11am to 4.30pm each day.
